Can we extend our trip for longer than 4 hours?Yes you can, your trip can be flexible. Before you board, or while you are on your trip you can talk to the captain and negotiate a longer trip.

Are food and drinks provided?Food and drinks are not provided. You can bring your own food, drinks, alcohol and mixers, we provide a cooler with to keep everything cold during your trip.

Is there a minimum age for the guests?There is not a minimum age for the trip. Children are allowed to join.

What if there are more than 7 of us?No, due to the current global contingency as a result of COVID-19, restrictions are in place that mean that the maximum capacity for boat (excluding crew) is 7 guests.

Is there a dry space for my items and bags?Yes, there is a space to keep small personal items safe and dry during your trip. We do recommend to bring a dry bag for valuable.

Can I bring CBD products from home to Mexico?There are laws in place which restrict you from bringing products from your home country to Mexico.

Can I drink the tap water while on the Isla Mujeres?No, it is not recommended to drink mains-supply water, this can make you sick. Buy bottled water or drink from the garaffons available at your accommodation this has been purified and is drinkable. Ice on Isla Mujeres has been made from purified water.

How many people are allowed on a golf cart?There are 4 person and 6 person golf carts available to rent on Isla Mujeres. You should stick to the maximum capacity. If you have more than 4 people on a 4 person golf cart, the police can pull you over.

How much should I tip at the bars and restaurants?Tips in bars and restaurants is recommended at 15% (plus). Check that a ‘suggested tip’ hasn’t been added onto the total, before tipping twice. Check bills carefully!

Can I take shells and coral when I am snorkeling/diving and take it back home with me?No, help us to protect our oceans and underwater world, unless it is human produced trash, please do not remove anything from the sea or our beaches. Please do not touch the sealife or coral when snorkeling or diving.

How far is Isla Mujeres from Cancun?Isla Mujeres is 8 miles (13 km) North East from Cancun.

I had a couple of beers with lunch and feel fine, can I drive the golf cart that we rented?"No. Do not drink and drive on the island. There is zero alcohol tolerance on drinking and driving on the island (on golf carts, scooters and in cars). This includes having open containers in the golf cart. Choose a designated driver who will not drink while out exploring the island. And do not have any open bottles, cans or containers of alcohol while on the vehicle, if you are stopped by the police they can fine you and/or take the vehicle away. There are often random checkpoints set up around the island, and police are constantly patrolling in their vehicles. These rules are in place for your safety and the safety of others on the island.

I would like to get my nails done, is that possible?"Yes, there are places where you can have pedicures and manicures on the island

How many people are allowed on a scooter?Maximum 2 people are allowed on a scooter, despite what you may see. If there are more than 2 people you will be stopped by the police.

Is beach access free?Yes. All beaches in Mexico are public, which means that they are free to use. Lay out your towel or take your beach chair and relax. However, expect to pay at the beach clubs, the use of their chairs, beds and facilities does often cost money.

Where can I swim on Isla Mujeres safely?We do not recommend swimming along the Caribbean side, even as a strong swimmer, the tide is very strong and it is very rocky. You can swim safely, you can swim at Playa Norte, and Playa Sol in downtown Isla Mujeres. There are also spots along the Cancun side of the island where you can swim (beach clubs), be careful of sea urchins in the seagrass here.

What language is spoken on the island?Spanish is the primary language on Isla Mujeres, however, due to the amount of tourists that visit the island many people can speak English.

Do I need to wear a helmet on a scooter?Yes. Both the driver and passenger on the scooter must have a helmet, this is a legal requirement in place for your safety. If you are not wearing a helmet, you will be stopped by police.

Are there yoga classes on the island?Yes, there are yoga classes available on the island. There are several great teachers on the island who can provide private lessons or have schedules at some great spots, including on the beach, with views of the Caribbean, and more.

I am traveling solo, what is the best transportation on Isla Mujeres?"If you are traveling solo, you can rent a Golf Cart or scooter, or even a bicycle to explore the island at your own pace. You can also travel via a taxi or on the local bus.

I am traveling with my family, what is the best transportation on the island?"If you are traveling with your family a Golf Cart is probably the best option, (for up to 4 people) or you could all rent bicycles. The taxis can take 4 people maximum, or there is the local bus.

Can I surf on Isla Mujeres?If you are an experienced surfer, there are some spots along the Caribbean coast where you can surf when the tide is right. There is nowhere to rent boards, if you have your own you can go out opposite the gas station, but be aware that there is a strong tide here and it is very rocky.

Do I need a license to drive a golf cart?Yes, anyone driving the golf cart must have a valid driver’s license. The rental company will take 1 license as a deposit when you take the golf cart.

Can we drink beer on the beach?Yes, you can take your own alcohol to the beach. If you are at a beach club, you will not be able to consume your own alcohol. Remember to use the trash cans provided afterwards to keep our beaches clean!

We want to dance and party, where can we go?"Right now during the current contingency for COVID-19 partying is not possible in the normal places. Many places do not allow dancing inside the bar/restaurant due to social distancing.

Is there a grocery store on Isla Mujeres?Yes, there are several grocery stores on the island. The largest grocery store is Chedraui, located mid-island. You can also find Super Aki, a smaller grocery store in the main plaza in downtown Isla Mujeres, and one in Colonia La Gloria. There are also smaller convenience/corner stores dotted around the island with essentials (look for the signs that say SIX).

Can I exchange pesos at the Ultramar ferry terminal in Cancun?No, there is currently not a currency exchange at the ferry terminal in Cancun. However, at the Ultramar ferry terminal in Isla Mujeres there is a currency exchange.

Can I bring a rented car over from the mainland?Yes you can bring over a rented car, on the car ferry, from Cancun.

How can I fish on the island?Yes there are tours that go out where you can fish. Including Sport Fishing, Deep Sea Fishing and Bay Fishing.

What are some activities to do on rainy days on the island?While we have many sunny, beautiful days on Isla Mujeres, there are also days with bad weather and/or rain. On these days there are some activities that you can do including cooking classes, art classes, bead making workshops etc.

Do I need a passport or a visa to get to Isla Mujeres?If you are coming from another country (USA, Canada, Europe etc.) to Mexico you will need a passport to enter into Mexico at the airport/border. You will also need to fill out a visa form before you enter which they will check with your passport at immigration when you arrive. Here you will be issued your visa for your stay for maximum 180 days (KEEP THIS SAFE in your passport during your stay).

Are there any dangerous insects or animals on the island?Yes, there are some insects which you should avoid. There are scorpions on the island that will give you a nasty sting and spiders that will bite, however, neither are venomous. There are also some beautiful caterpillars that you should avoid. Don’t forget to wear bug repellent for the mosquitos. As for animals, not all of Isla’s dogs are friendly, don’t approach them. Also look out for the crocodile in the Makax Lagoon, and snakes around the island.

What public transportation is available on the island?Taxis are very easy to catch on the island. Prices vary depending on your location and destination. There is also a local bus that you can catch on the main roads along the island.

What is the extra cost that has been added to my bill at the bar/restaurant?Check your bills carefully. Some places may add a ‘suggested tip’. Others may add on the tax to the total separately, (the item price shown on the menu usually shows this while the bill may not), don’t be afraid to ask or to check a menu.

Can I bring my pet to the island?Yes, you can travel with your pet to the island. Dogs and pets are allowed upstairs on the Ultramar Ferry. When you are on the island there are several accommodation options that allow animals. Also there is a dog beach along the Caribbean side of the island, especially for your four-legged friend to enjoy the Caribbean.

How is the internet access on the island?As we are located on a small island in the Caribbean, off the coast of Cancun, Isla Mujeres’ internet sometimes suffers from bad/flaky internet access due to tropical weather, and when there are lots of people using it on the island. This is the perfect time to disconnect and enjoy Isla Mujeres!

Are there dentists on the island?Yes, there are dentists on the Isla Mujeres.

Why are there signs saying not to put paper down the toilet? What do I do with the paper? What can go down the toilets?The waste systems on the island are not designed to have anything unnatural flushed into them. They block easily. Put paper and sanitary products in the waste bins provided next to the toilet. To avoid an inconvenience for yourself and others, avoid unpleasant problems by only flushing natural products down.

Where can I exchange USD to Mexican Pesos on Isla Mujeres?You can exchange money downtown - at the ferry terminal in Isla Mujeres, at Elektra white good store, or at one of the banks (HSBC, Banamex and Cibanco)

How long is the ferry ride? Is there a lot of space?The ferry ride from Cancun to Isla Mujeres and back is approximately 20 minutes. The ferry is spacious, however, we recommend arriving at least 15 minutes before your desired ferry to make sure you get a spot, as it can sometimes get busy.

What is the local currency on Isla Mujeres? Can I bring USD?The local currency on Isla Mujeres is Mexican Pesos. You can use USD, but many places make their own exchange rate. You can change USD to Mexican Pesos at locations downtown in Isla Mujeres.

Can I smoke cigarettes on the beach?Yes, you can smoke cigarettes on the beach, use ashtrays provided at the beach clubs, or clean up after yourselves when not at the beach clubs, using the trash cans provided.

What time do the bars and restaurants close?Closing times depend on the license that the business has on the island. During the current contingency of COVID-19. Businesses have to be closed by 12am, (update 09/02).

I see a lot of dogs in the street, are they strays? And how do I adopt one?"Most of the time, the dogs in the streets on Isla Mujeres do have owners, they may not be wearing a collar, but usually have been allowed out to roam for the day. If you are looking to adopt a dog or a cat from the island, you can go to Isla Animals or Delfino’s Veterinary Clinic, who can help you to adopt an island animal that needs a home.

Is cannabis legal in Mexico/on the island?Cannabis is illegal on Isla Mujeres, and throughout Mexico.

Do Golf Carts come with lights for night driving?Yes, the Golf Carts all come with lights for driving at night.

Can I drive the golf cart on the airport strip?No, you cannot drive the Golf Carts on the airport strip, this is government land, and often the Navy Base land their helicopter here. If you are on it while there is a helicopter, you will be asked to leave by the police or marines.

Do I need to hand signal while driving the Golf Cart?Yes, as the Golf Carts do not come with signals, you will need to use your hands when signalling to turn. If you are turning right, a 90 degree arm signal will show others that you are planning to turn right. If you are turning left, look over your left shoulder as you slow down/ stop before you stick out your left arm (be sure not to stick it out abruptly in case something is passing you). Be aware of vehicles overtaking you and undertaking you at all times.

Why does the Golf Cart company take my license upon rental?The company takes one license as a deposit when you rent the Golf Cart, this is from the person in charge of the party. Others with a valid driver’s license can use the Golf Cart with the permission of the person in charge.

How easy is it to drive around Isla Muejers? Is there anything I should be aware of while I am driving around the island?Drive the Golf Cart like you are driving a car, always check for bicycles, scooters and other vehicles that may be in your blind spots before turning. Use signals when turning, and be aware of pedestrians, children and animals in the streets, do not drive too fast! Downtown Isla Mujeres, you cannot drive up Avenida Hidalgo, this is a pedestrian street on Isla Mujeres. Watch out for one way streets in downtown Isla Mujeres, and around the island, and do not drive down the malecon, on the beaches or onto the beaches. As the Golf Carts are usually slower than other traffic, you must stick to the right hand side of the road to allow other vehicles to pass you, taxis will often beep the horns as a sign that they are going to overtake.

Can I drive everywhere on the island?No, you cannot drive onto the beaches, onto the malecon downtown or along the Caribbean side, if the road is not paved we recommend not driving onit. Be careful of Isla Mujeres’ one way streets. Downtown is made up of one way streets, make sure to check signs and direction of parking before you turn down a street.

My Golf Cart won’t start, what should I do?"You can contact the Golf Cart company directly and they will send someone to help you, or you can contact us and can make arrangements for someone to come and help you.

Can I park the Golf Cart everywhere on the island?If the sidewalk is painted yellow, that means you can not park your golf cart there, if the sidewalk is white or plain, you can park there. Also there are lots of designated parking spaces around the Island.

I’m running late to return golf cart time? Extra charge?Yes, if you are running late to return your Golf Cart, there is a late fee.

Can my 12 year old child drive the Golf Cart?No, the Golf Carts are not toys, please do not allow others to drive (unless they are 18 with a valid driver’s license), steer or control the pedals of the vehicle. Please respect the rules and regulations in place on Isla Mujeres, designed to keep our visitors and residents safe. Only drivers 18+ with a valid driver’s license can drive the Golf Cart.

What if the tank gets low on gasoline?The Golf Cart doesn't use that much gasoline but if you take it for a few loops around the island or use it for multiple days, you can fill up your tank at 1 of the two gas stations on the island.

Can I drive the Golf Cart after a beer with my dinner?No. There is a zero alcohol tolerance for drivers on Isla Mujeres, this means that you cannot drink anything if you are planning to drive. Please have a designated driver or leave your Golf Cart locked up and take a taxi back. If you get pulled over, and tested after you have been drinking fines and penalties apply, they may also take the Golf Cart from you.

Why is there a bike lock provided with my Golf Cart?This is provided to lock your Golf Cart up while it is unattended. You should lock the steering wheel to the Golf Cart frame each time you leave the Golf Cart so that the Golf Cart cannot be moved.

Can the Golf Cart only have one driver?The Golf Cart will be rented under the name of one person and this person will be responsible for the vehicle. If this person wants to let another person drive, then that is not a problem as long the driver is 18+ age limit and has a valid driver’s license

We are 4 adults and 1 small child, can we just rent a 4 person Golf Cart?"No, 4 person Golf Carts are for 4 people only, you can not overload the Golf Carts with more than stated limit, as this can cause accidents when turning etc.

Can I take my rented Golf Cart on the car ferry to Cancun?No, you cannot drive the Golf Carts in Cancun.

What happens if I get pulled over by the police while on my Golf Cart?If you are following the rules, sticking to the speed limit, have an 18+ licensed driver driving who has not been drinking, and under the required amount of people on the Golf Cart you will not have any problems with the police.

What if I lose the Golf Cart key?If you lose the key, you will need to contact us directly, or the Golf Cart company. There will be a fee. Please take care of your Golf Cart, and of the key.

Why stay on the right side of the street?When you are driving the Golf Cart, stick to the right hand side of the road to allow faster vehicles to pass you, do not drive in the middle of you side of the road as taxis, cars and buses often want to pass faster. If you hear a taxi beeping their horn at you its because they want to pass or are warning you that they are about to overtake.

Can I drink on the ride to the Ultramar Ferry Terminal?Yes, you can drink on the ride. You can include a 6 pack of beer or a bottle of champagne with your reservation for an additional cost.

How Do I Get My Ferry ticket?Add on a return Ultramar ferry ticket with your reservation, the price is $23 USD per person. You can add this after your booking. You can also buy your own ferry ticket when you arrive at the Ultramar Ferry Terminal in Puerto Juarez, where you can pay for your ticket with cash USD or MXN pesos as well as with a credit card.

Can I ask the driver for a pit stop before the Ultramar Ferry Terminal?You can take a quick stop on the way to use the bathroom or pop into a shop for some snacks or something to drink for the ride.

My Group Is Bigger Than 8 People, what should I do?"No worries, you can just book a second van, if your group is bigger than 16, book a third van.

What if my flight has a delay?When you book this private transfer you will provide your flight number and the name of the airline, this way the company can keep an eye on your flight as it is coming in to see if there are any delays. The driver will be waiting for you when you exit the airport.

How long is the ride?The ride from Cancun Airport to the Ultramar Ferry Terminal is 30 minutes - 1 hour (traffic dependent). The ride across on the Ferry is approximately 20 minutes, they have a schedule so you may have to wait there for a while. If you take the private boat transfer the time it takes from the airport to the island is 1 hour - 1 hour 30 minutes.

What if bags are late?If your bags are late or you are having problems inside the airport, you can contact the company on the phone number provided with your confirmation.

How does the Private Boat pick-up work?You will be picked up in a private van from the airport and brought straight to the marina, here you will get on the boat waiting for you. The boat will bring you straight to the island, Isla Mujeres. If your accommodation has its own private dock they can take you directly there. If not you will be taken to a dock close to the taxi stand on Isla Mujeres.

Is there AC?Yes, the vans have AC. If you book a boat transfer the boats do not have AC as they are in the open air.

Where do I meet the driver when I exit the airport? Is there a specific place that I need to go?Once you have cleared immigration and customs walk to the main exit, outside the building you will find the company representative with a sign with your name on it ready to meet you.

I am only bringing USD, is that OK?"You pay for your transportation upfront when you make the reservation for it. If you would like to tip your driver (and the captain) they are happy to receive USD.

Is the tip for the driver included in the price?The tip for the driver is not included in the price. You can tip your driver and captain when leaving the transfer.

I have a baby, are there baby seats available?"Yes, there are child and baby car seats available, please ask for this when you make your reservation.

I have heard about people at the airport scamming tourists arriving, how do I avoid this?"When you arrive at the airport, follow the exit signs, the representative for the transfer company will be waiting for you with a sign with your name on it, outside. Do not talk to anybody else as you may find yourself involved in unauthorized taxi services or other sales/timeshare tactics. Do not give information to anyone else, if you have problems finding the representative or any other issues, call us or the company from your phone.

Should I bring a stroller?If you plan on walking around downtown a lot, definitely! Or if you plan to travel to other places where you will walk a lot, then yes. Narrow strollers are best for the small sidewalks and often walking into the street, like the Summer Infant Lite 3D. If they’re small enough a carrier is a great idea!

Can I purchase essentials for my kids on the island? If so, where?There is a major supermarket on the island, as well as smaller ones, and pharmacies that have essentials for adults and children. Items like; diapers, wipes, formula, bottles, clothing, swim attire, swim accessories, food, vitamins, and medicine.

There are also spots along the Cancun side of the island where you can swim (beach clubs), be careful of sea urchins in the seagrass here.

And how do I adopt one?"Most of the time, the dogs in the streets on Isla Mujeres do have owners, they may not be wearing a collar, but usually have been allowed out to roam for the day. If you are looking to adopt a dog or a cat from the island, you can go to Isla Animals or Delfino’s Veterinary Clinic, who can help you to adopt an island animal that needs a home.

What can go down the toilets?The waste systems on the island are not designed to have anything unnatural flushed into them. They block easily. Put paper and sanitary products in the waste bins provided next to the toilet. To avoid an inconvenience for yourself and others, avoid unpleasant problems by only flushing natural products down.

I had a couple of beers with lunch and feel fine, can I drive the golf cart that we rented?"No. Do not drink and drive on the island. There is zero alcohol tolerance on drinking and driving on the island (on golf carts, scooters and in cars). This includes having open containers in the golf cart. Choose a designated driver who will not drink while out exploring the island. And do not have any open bottles, cans or containers of alcohol while on the vehicle, if you are stopped by the police they can fine you and/or take the vehicle away. There are often random checkpoints set up around the island, and police are constantly patrolling in their vehicles. These rules are in place for your safety and the safety of others on the island.
